Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated shuttlers Saina Nehwal and K Srikanth for their victories at the China Open Super Series tournament on Sunday.

K Srikanth stuns Lin Dan to win China Open title

'It is a huge victory and a great feeling to win title in China'

Saina lifted the women's singles title after beating Japan's Akane Yamaguchi while Srikanth produced the biggest win of his career by defeating two-time Olympic Champion Lin Dan to clinch men's singles title.

The 21-year-old Srikanth, who grew up idolising the five-time world champion, defeated Lin 21-19, 21-17 in the men's singles final for his first Super Series title.

"A wonderful day for Indian badminton! Congrats to Saina Nehwal and K Srikanth for the victories at the China Open Super Series Badminton Tournament," Modi said in a press release.
