Ireland showed they were made of sterner stuff by qualifying against formidable opposition. And if past performance is any indicator, the Irish should reap gains at this finals.

Their strength lies in midfield, where the inspirational Roy Keane regulates the traffic. The Irish team is hardworking and capable of striking up a good rhythm when the occasion demands.

However, Cameroon and Germany may pose problems. They can afford to take it easy against Saudi Arabia.
