Zahovic expelled from Slovenia team

Slovenian forward Zlatko Zahovic, who was involved in a bust-up with coach Srecko Katanec after his team's 3-1 defeat to Spain at the World Cup, has been expelled from the squad, a team spokesman said on Thursday.

Rok Sinkovc, press spokesman for the Slovenians, when asked if Zahovic had been kicked out, said: "Yes, it's correct. He's leaving."

Katanec had said at an emotional news conference on Wednesday that he would stand down at the end of the World Cup because of the dispute.

Team sources said Zahovic hurled abuse at Katanec after being substituted in Slovenia's opening group B match.
