David Beckham [Images] said for the first time on Wednesday that he would like to quit LA Galaxy in the United States and make a permanent move to AC Milan.

The former Manchester United [Images] and Real Madrid [Images] midfielder added that he might want to end his career at Milan and that playing for them would enhance his chances of another World Cup with England [Images] in South Africa [Images] next year.

"I have expressed my desire now to stay in Milan and hopefully the clubs can come to some agreement," Beckham, who is on loan with the Italian giants, told reporters.

"I expected to enjoy it (in Milan), but I didn't expect to enjoy it this much and play in every game like I have," said Beckham, who has made a significant impact in Serie A.

"I have said that my intentions are to stay here. Now it is out of my hands so I have to wait and see," he added after playing for the first half of Milan's friendly against Rangers at Ibrox.

"My main objective is to stay at this club and I enjoy playing here and at the highest level and it would give me more of a chance (of playing in the World Cup)," the former 33-year-old England captain said.

"I have not spoken to Galaxy, but someone has from my side and it is literally down to them to come to some sort of agreement and hopefully they will."

Asked if he would like to finish his career at AC Milan Beckham replied, "Yes, possibly."

Becks' lawyers in talks with Galaxy

David Beckham's lawyers are discussing with Los Angeles Galaxy the possibility of extending his loan spell at AC Milan, the Italian club said on Wednesday.

"His lawyers are in talks with Los Angeles Galaxy," Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani said on the team's website (www.acmilan.com). "But there is no negotiation at the moment."

The 33-year-old midfielder, who has been in fine form for Milan, moved to Italy [Images] during the U.S. close season on a two-month loan deal to try to stay in contention for a place in the England side.

Galliani has said he wants Beckham to stay at Milan after his loan finishes on March 9.

For technical reasons, Beckham's loan is actually until June but there is a written agreement that he goes back to the United States in March.

Milan have not yet made an offer for the former Manchester United and Real Madrid player, Galliani said.

"To enter a negotiation and eventually close a deal we have time until March 8," he said.

Calls for Beckham to stay at Milan have grown since he surpassed expectations, having scored two goals in his first five starts for the Serie A side.

Beckham has repeatedly stated that he will return to Los Angeles when his loan spell ends but Galliani said the player would like to stay.

Milan, who are six points behind Serie A leaders Inter Milan, are desperate to keep the England midfielder and have included him in their UEFA [Images] Cup squad.
