August 05, 2009 20:56 IST

Prakash Amritraj [Images] advanced to the second round of the US $100,000 Vancouver Open ATP event after a straight set win against Croat Ivan Dodig but his doubles journey ended in the opener itself.

The unseeded Indian won 7-5, 6-3 to set up a meeting with Cyprus star and third seed Marcos Baghdatis [Images].

However, he and Pakistan's Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi [Images], seeded third, lost the opening match of the doubles event 2-6, 2-6 to unseeded Kyu Tae Im of Korea and Marinko Matosevic of Australia [Images].

Also making an early exit was Harsh Mankad and his American partner David Martin after losing their first round match 6-7(7), 2-6 to the Israeli pair of Amir Hadad and Harel Levy.
