Villa, Everton and Fulham hunt for Europa places
Mike Collett
April 12, 2009 23:35 IST

Aston Villa and Everton played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday after Everton twice led by two goals.

Although the match provided breathless entertainment for the fans, it did little good for either team's attempt to climb into the top four and a Champions League [Images] place with Villa staying fifth with 53 points and Everton sixth on 52.

Both teams, however, remain on course for a place in next season's Europa League, the revamped UEFA [Images] Cup, while Fulham also kept alive their hopes of a place in that competition with a 3-1 come-from-behind win at Manchester City.

That lifted Fulham into eighth place on 43 points, just a point behind West Ham in seventh place with a spot in UEFA's second club competition within their sights.
