Sethi, Advani storm into quarter-finals

Defending champion Pankaj Advani [Images], former champion Geet Sethi, former Asian champion Devender Joshi and Singapore's Peter Gilchrist stormed into the quarter-finals of the ONGC [Get Quote] IBSF World Billiards (Time Format) Championship at KSBA Hall in Bangalore on Monday.

Twice Thailand National champion Thawat Sujaritthurakarn, Indian cueists Rupesh Shah, Sourav Kothari and Dhruv Sitwala also made it to last eight stage.

Eight-time World billiards champion Geet Sethi trounced Suriya Suwannasingh of Thailand 1892-727, his highest break being 272.

Bangalore lad Advani showed the door to compatriot Shyam Jagtinni, winning 2036-869, England-born Peter Gilchrist, who had a highest break of 354, had an easy time against Vietnam's Thanh Long Nguyen, winning 1660-767, while Thailand's Thawat Sujaritthurakarn posted a narrow 958-832 victory over local lad B Bhaskar.
