The Indian Davis Cupper was trailing 1-6, 2-4 against his British opponent when he decided to opt out of the contest. In the doubles event though, Prakash along with Stephen Amritraj advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Luigi D'Agord and Nima Roshan in the first round. The second seeded Indian pair prevailed over the Italian-American pair 6-4, 7-6 (6) in the hardcourt event.
