Climax Lawrence struck in injury time to take India to a 1-0 victory over Afghanistan in their first match of the AFC Challenge Cup at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
A desperate attack from the Indian team in the dying moments was put paid as Lawrence found the back of the net in the 92nd minute.
Earlier, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan had played out a goalless draw in the opening match of the tournament.
