Amritraj ends Bopanna's run July 11, 2008 10:31 IST Last Updated: July 11, 2008 20:09 IST Rohan Bopanna's dream run at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships came to an end when he was handed a straight sets defeat by Prakash Amritraj, in an all-Indian quarter-final, at the US $385,000 event in Newport, United States. Qualifier Bopanna went down 4-6, 3-6 to his wildcard Davis Cup teammate and wound up a singles campaign that saw him record one of the most memorable victories of his career -- a stunning straight sets triumph over top seeded American Mardy Fish [Images] in the second round. Amritraj will take on Canadian Frank Dancevi in the semi-final after the seventh seed upset fourth seed Russia's [Images] Igor Kunitsyn 7-5, 6-3 in another quarter-final. Bopanna and Amritraj, however, could once again face each other, albeit in the doubles competition. Seeded fourth, Bopanna and his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi advanced to the semi-finals after beating South African Kevin Anderson and American James Cerretanu 7-6 (4), 3-6, 10-7. Bopanna and Qureshi are next up against the winners of the match between wildcards Amritraj and Luxumberg's Gilles Muller and Rik De Voest (South Africa) and Ashley Fisher (Australia).
