Schnyder to play in Bangalore Open

Swiss champion Patty Schnyder has confirmed her participation in the Bangalore Open this year.

Patty Schnyder has 10 tour wins to her credit and is currently ranked 14th in the WTA Rankings, the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) said announcing her participation.

Schnyder said, "It is great to be part of India's first Tier II tennis extravaganza at Bangalore. This is my first visit to India and I am as much thrilled as anyone would be to visit this great nation. I look forward to play great tennis at Bangalore in front passionate lovers of the sport."

Serena Williams [Images] has already confirmed her participation in the event.

The Bangalore Open will be held here from March 3 to 9. The event has total prize money of $ 600,000 and winner will take home $ 95,500 and 300 WTA points.
