Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored twice as Ajax Amsterdam defeated arch-rivals Feyenoord 3-0 in the Dutch League on Sunday.

With 11 matches remaining PSV Eindhoven, 2-0 winners at AZ Alkmaar on Saturday, are top of the table with 52 points, eight more than Ajax. Heerenveen are third with 43 points, after their 7-0 rampage over Vitesse Arnhem on Saturday.

Ajax dominated the match from the start and came close to taking the lead after 16 seconds when Huntelaar forced goalkeeper Henk Timmer to stretch to save a close-range attempt.

Full back Johnny Heitinga broke through the Feyenoord defence after eight minutes to open the scoring and on the stroke of halftime a defensive blunder from Tim de Cler gave Gabri the opportunity to set up Huntelaar to double the lead.

In the second half, Ajax squandered a handful of chances but in the final minute Huntelaar scored his 21st goal this season.

Feyenoord are fourth in the league level on 41 points with Groningen who were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Roda JC Kerkrade.

Debutant Berry Powel, signed from Graafschap Doetinchem to replace Erik Nevland who joined Fulham, struck after 13 minutes to put Groningen ahead.

Groningen were reduced to 10 men 12 minutes later following a straight red card for Martijn Meerdink and Andres Oper equalised late on to salvage a point for Roda.

Cedric van der Gun and Robin Nelisse scored a goal in each half to inspire Utrecht to a 2-0 home victory over strugglers Willem II Tilburg. Utrecht climbed up to eighth position with 35 points.

Two blunders from VVV Venlo goalkeeper Danny Wintjes allowed Jerold Promes and Yuri Rose to score and hand Sparta Rotterdam a 2-0 win, their third in a row.
