India hold Lebanon but fail to qualify

India held Lebanon to a 2-2 draw in the return match of the World Cup football qualifier at Nehru stadium in Fatorda, Goa [Images], on Tuesday.

India led 1-0 at half-time after scoring through Sunil Chetri in the 29th minute.

Lebanon's Mohammed Ghattar scored in the 80th and 86th minutes to give the visitors hopes of full points, but Baichung Bhutia found the net in injury time to enable the home side come out with an honourable draw.

India however failed to qualify for the next round, having lost 1-4 in the away match.

Lebanon, with a 6-3 goal aggregate, move to the next round.
