Sporting Clube de Goa beat Mohun Bagan 2-1 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Monday, to improve their position in the National Football League.

With this victory, Sporting Clube have 22 points from 17 matches and occupy sixth place on the league table, while Bagan is placed eighth with 21 points from as many outings.

Denzil Franco put the Goan side in the lead by scoring in the 35th minute while Bagan skipper Jose Barreto drew level in the 88th minute.

However, Sporting had the last laugh when their striker Dudu Omaghbemi, after a fine one-two with medio Papai, found the net a minute before the long whistle.
