Dempo continued their fine run in the National Football League, beating Mumbai's Air India 2-1 at the Nehru stadium in Margao, Goa, on Friday.

The victory took the Goa team to the top of the ten-team league. They have 17 points from eight matches, while Air India have 11.

Dempo, who dictated terms for major part of the match, scored once in each half, through Anthony Pereira (20th minute) and Ranty Martins (40th).

Air India pulled a goal back in the 86th minute through Paresh Shivalkar.

Dempo could have won by a bigger margin but rival 'keeper Raju Ekka came up with a fine show, bringing off at least two great saves off Ranty Martins.

Dempo's Anthony Pereira was adjudged player of the match.
