Fifth seed Joshna Chinappa lost to fourth seed Mauela Manetta of Italy [Images] in the quarterfinals to crash out of the Betteridge and Breitliong San Diego Classic squash tournament.

The Indian went down 3-9 9-6 9-3 3-9 4-9 to Manetta, who will now take on second seed Raneem El Weleily of Egypt in the semifinals of the $11,000 event.

Joshna had earlier beaten Mexican Imelda Salazar Martinez 9-6 9-1 9-3 in the first round.
