Amritraj in second round of Comerica Challenger

Prakash Amritraj beat Japanese qualifier Takahiro Terachi 6-2, 6-4 to enter the second round of US $75,000 Comerica Challenger Series tournament in Aptos, California.

The wild card entrant is now up against American Brian Wilson, who rallied from a set down to shock the tournament's top seed, Kristian Pless of Denmark, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the hard court event on Tuesday.

In another Challenger Series tournament in Manchester, third seeds Rohan Bopanna and his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi entered the quarter-finals after surviving a tough encounter against the British pair of Richard Bloomfield and Ken Skupski ye.

The Indo-Pakistani pair came from behind to beat the local favourites 3-6, 7-6(3), 10-6 in the opening round of the US $25,000 grass court event.

They will now take on the German duo of Dominik Meffert and Simon Stadler, who beat Olivier Charrion of France [Images] and Pierre-Ludovic Duclso of Canada [Images] 6-0, 6-2.

Bopanna is seeded seventh in the singles and will open his campaign against Britain's Lee Childs.
