Rupesh scores fluent victories

Young Rupesh Shah compiled big breaks to score two fluent victories in the Jain Heights 73rd Senior National Billiards Championship in Bangalore on Wednesday.

In the morning, the fourth seeded Rupesh dumped I V Rajiv of Tamil Nadu, winning 840-124, with breaks of 75, 101, 244 and 169.

Later, in the afternoon, he continued his good form, thrashing Anish Parekh 878-84. This time the bespectacled cueist had breaks of 116, 246, 134 and 146.

Doha Asian Games silver medallist Ashok Shandilya recorded three century breaks -- of 167, 151 and 121 � while scoring a thumping 732-133 victory over Chetan Chabra of Haryana.

In a postponed match against Pushpender Singh of Delhi, Shandilya had earlier scored a 626-255 win.

World billiards champion Geet Sethi had it easy against Sonam Bhutia, recording a 854-204 win with breaks of 186, 155 and 115.

Karnataka's B Bhaskar also had a good match over R Prabhakar of Railways. Bhaskar won 593-188 with breaks of 142 and 169.
