India were held to a 1-1 draw by Myanmar in the first leg of the 2008 Beijing Olympics football qualifier in Yangon on Wednesday night.

India dominated the first half but had to wait till the 54th minute to take the lead through Syed Rahim Nabi at Thuwunna stadium.

Just when it seemed India would walk away with full points, the hosts equalised six minutes before the final whistle.

Skipper NS Manju was injured in the second half and had to be replaced in the 78th minute.

Goalkeeper Subrata Paul had a brilliant day under the bar and made three spectacular saves in the first session.

The return leg will be played on February 14 at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata.
