Bharat Petroleum won the 45th Bombay Gold Cup Hockey Tournament, beating Air India 4-1 in the final at the Mahindra stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.

BPCL made amends for last year's disappointment, when they lost to Army XI in the final, to claim their maiden Gold Cup title.

Pundalik Bellary, Amar Aiyamma, Irshad Ali and Ravi Pal Singh scored for the Bangalore outfit, who led 2-0 at half-time. Air India found consolation through a goal from Harshpreet Singh.

BPCL took home Rs 1,25,000 while the airmen had to settle for Rs 75,000.

Former international Sabu Varkey, who led the BPCL attack, was adjudged man of the match.

Individual awards:

Player of the Tournament: Kuttappa (BPCL)
Best forward: Amar Aiyamma (BPCL)
Best goalkeeper: Gurpreet Singh (Air India)
Best defender: Irshad Ali (BPCL).
