National hockey: Delhi romp into semis

Delhi entered the semi-finals of the Dainik Bhaskar Tracer 62nd National Hockey Championship, defeating Air India 3-1 in their last Super League match in Jalandhar on Tuesday.

The November 2 semi-finals line-up thus reads: defending champions Punjab and Sind Bank versus Indian Oil Corporation [Get Quote]; Delhi versus Namdhari XI. 

The final is on November 3.

Delhi, who dominated Air India right through struck in the second minute from a penalty-corner, which was converted by Satpal.

They held on to the lead till the breather despite Air India piling intense pressure.

Delhi doubles their lead in the 45th minute through captain Bikas Toppo, who scored a spectacular field goal.

Seven minutes later, Delhi took a firm grip of the match when Pramod Kumar sounded the board after surpassing the rival defenders and goalkeeper.

Air India's Gangandeep Singh pulled a goal back in the 54th minute to reduce the margin to 3-1.
