Continuing his rich form, Jeev Milkha Singh [Images] played near-perfect golf and carded a flawless six-under 66 in the opening round to take the joint lead at the Asahiryokuken Yomiuri Asoiizuka Memorial Open Fukuoka, Japan [Images], on Thursday.

The Volvo Masters champion was tied for the top spot with Ik-Je Chang at the Asoiizuka Golf Club.

The seasoned Indian pro was in fine form and started with an eagle on the par-five third hole before gaining another shot on the seventh.

Making the turn at three-under, Jeev hit successive birdies on the 10th and 11th and sank in another on the 14th to make a solid start in the 100,000,000 yen event.

Toyokazu Fujishima, along with seven others, followed the leaders, a shot behind.
