India gold-silver in women's 10m rifle

Tejaswini [Images] Sawant and Avneet Kaur Sidhu won gold and silver respectively in the women's 10-metre air rifle shooting event at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne on Monday.

Sawant scored 500.6 points while Sidhu shot 500.2 to equal the Games record.

Singapore's Sen Venassa Yong Yu won the bronze with 499.9 points.

Earlier in the day, Abhinav Bindra and Gagan Narang added to India's gold haul at the shooting range, winning the men's 50 metre rifle three-position pairs event.

The India duo had a winning tally of 2287, which was far better than silver medallists Michael Brown and Ben Burge of Australia, who aggregated 2269 points.

England's [Images] Jason Burrage and Chris Hector took bronze with 2269 points.
