Rupesh Kumar and Thomas Sanave bowed out of the Malaysian Open after losing their men's doubles quarter-final to Woon Fui Lin and Mohd Fairuzizuan of Malaysia, in Kuching, on Friday.

The Indian pair lost a hard-fought duel at the four-star event 10-21, 21-13, 16-21.

The Malysians will meet compatriots Tan Fook Choong and Wan Wah Lee in the semi-finals.

The Indian challenge at the Malaysian Open thus came to an end, as Arvind Bhat had exited from the men's singles on Thursday after losing in the pre-quarter-finals 14-21, 17-21 to Roman Spitko of Germany [Images].

Bhat had caused a major upset, toppling world No. 6 Kenneth Jonassen of Denmark but failed to make his giant-killing act count.
