English referee Graham Poll, who showed a Croatian player three yellow cards in a match during the just-concluded World Cup in Germany [Images], has been assigned a EURO 2008 [Images] qualifying game on September 6.

UEFA [Images] spokesman Rob Faulkner confirmed that the 42-year-old Poll would officiate the Poland-Serbia Group 'A' qualifier.

After his World Cup lapse, Poll had said that he would quit officiating at international matches.

Poll, who has officiated at two World Cups, first showed Croatian defender Josip Simunic a yellow card in the 32nd minute, then a second one in the 85th minute before dismissing him in the 93rd minute during the second round match against Australia [Images], which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Australia advanced to the second round, but had Croatia won the match and Australia protested the result, it may have forced the organizers to order an unprecedented replay of the match, as Simunic should have been asked to leave the field after being shown the second yellow card.
