Indian girls beat Korea July 12, 2006 18:42 IST India defeated Korea 1-0 in their first outing in the four-nation junior hockey tournament that began in Gifu, Japan, on Wednesday. Vinita Xess, after receiving a pass from Harpreet, scored India's lone goal through an indirect penalty-corner conversion. On Thursday, India meet Malaysia and then take on hosts Japan on July 15. The final as well as the third-place play-off matches will be on July 16. An 18-member junior Indian team is taking part in the tournament. G S Bhangu and Lal Ram Pari are accompanying the team as coaches.
