Footballer Thomas Sebastian passes away

Former India footballer Thomas Sebastian died at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday following cardiac arrest. He was 46 and is survived by his wife and two children.

Beginning his football career with Titanium in 1982, Sebastian played for the junior India team the following year. He went on to represent India in the Nehru Cup, Asian Games, SAF Games and Olympic qualifiers in Saudi Arabia.

One of Kerala's [Images] best footballers, during his captaincy the state won the 1988 National Games football title and was runners-up in the 1989 Santosh Trophy in Guwahati.

In 1985, he was named Kerala's best sports person and awarded the G V Raja gold medal.

Sebastian also played for MBT Club, Baharain, from 1992 to 1995.

Since 1998 he was working as the selection officer of Titanium Club.
