Shuttlers give India first gold August 18, 2006 12:11 IST Shuttlers V Biju and Jwala Gutta won the first gold medal for India at the South Asian Games by winning the mixed doubles badminton championships in Colombo on Friday. They beat compatriots Thomas Kurien and Aparna Balan 21-11 21-13. Indian shuttlers stamped are assured of nine medals at the Games and four out of the five summit clashes will be all-India affairs.
