Mohun Bagan, one of India's top football clubs, plans to add a new chapter in its illustrious history by tying up with the famous English club, Liverpool.

The deal, which is on the verge of finalisation, will have the academy and youth sides of both clubs exchange visits for player development.

Representatives from the former European champions visited India last September to deliberate on the issue. Further discussions on it would be held when Mohun Bagan's Under-15 side takes part in the Manchester United [Images] Premier Cup in England [Images] starting August 8.

"The deal may be finalised during the upcoming trip," club secretary Anjan Mitra said in New Delhi on Friday.

Mohun Bagan is planning expansion of its facility for young players in Durgapur, West Bengal.

"We have Under-15, Under-17 and U-19 teams at the academy and plan to add an Under-13 side as well. We have signed a deal with a corporate house which has promised a hefty amount for sponsoring the U-13 side," senior club official Debashis Dutta said.

The club facility at Durgapur is a residential academy where, apart from their football skills, physical, nutritional and psychological development of the youngsters are taken care of.

"The players also learn yoga from Swami Ramdev," coach Shyamal Banerjee said.
