Promising pugilist Aswathimol Chenthittail joined four compatriots in the semi-finals of various weight categories in the third women's World Boxing Championships at Podolsk, near Moscow [Images] in Russia [Images], on Friday.

Aswathimol completely outplayed American opponent Junot Tiffany D in the 70 kg class before the referee stopped the contest (outscored) in the round one.

In the 80 kg category, Lekha K C faltered in the last stages of her preliminary stage bout and went down 25-35 against Malek Beata of Poland.

M C Merykom (46 kg), L Sarita Devi (54 kg), Kalpana Choudhary (50 kg) and Jyotsana (86 kg) had already made it to the last four stage of the eight-day event in which 152 pugilists from 28 countries are participating.
