Catching Sania Mirza live on court for the first time in India after her US Open success just got tougher for Kolkata residents. A 48-hour transport strike will cripple the city, from September 19 midnight. There will be no privately-owned public buses or taxis on the road.

And Sania takes on Juni Namigata in a first round match at the Sunfeast Open at 7 pm on Tuesday.

The government-owned underground metro service, which runs north to south through the length of the city, will be up and running. There is a metro station about 2 km away from the Netaji Indoor stadium. The government boosts the number of state-owned buses during transport strikes, but that is also generally inadequate.

The organisers of the Sunfeast Open don't seem worried though.

"We are not making any special arrangements for the bandh," confirmed one of the media relations officials.
