Leander Paes [Images] and his Serbian partner Nenad Zimonjic qualified for the doubles event in the season-ending ATP Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai, from November 13 to 20.

The pair made it to the elite event as the fifth-ranked team.

Only the leading eight teams on the ATP Doubles Race (annual rankings) qualify for the event, which will be played alongside the singles event featuring the top eight players.

Mahesh Bhupathi [Images], who has struggled to find a stable partner this season, is out of the reckoning.

The American Bryan brothers are the defending champions by virtue of their victory over Wayne Black and Kevin Ullyet in the final at the last edition of the event in Houston.

World number one Roger Federer [Images] of Switzerland [Images] is the defending champion in the singles event.
