Delhi Dazzlers crush Imphal Rangers

January 23, 2005 20:24 IST

Gurcharan Singh scored three goals as title aspirants Delhi Dazzlers outplayed Imphal Rangers 5-2 in the Tier II Premier Hockey League match at Hyderabad on Sunday.

Gurcharan Singh (17th minute, 64th and 65th), Raju (25th) and Amit (45th) scored for Delhi while Shanta Kumar (8th) and Brojen Singh (66th) scored for Imphal Rangers in an one-sided affair.

The win also helped the Dazzlers join the Chandigarh Dynamos at the top of the table with 15 points, though they have played one match more.

Imphal began well with Shanta Kumar drawing first blood by tapping in a pass.

The Rangers, however, failed to continue the good work and after Gurcharan scored the equaliser it was a downhill task for them.

Raju then put the Dazzlers in the lead and Amit doubled the margin with a brilliant finish.

Gurcharan Singh then found the net twice in as many minutes to take the game away from the Rangers.

Though the Rangers reacted immediately with their skipper Brojen converting a penalty corner in the 66th minute, it hardly matter in the eventual result.
