India's doubles ace Mahesh Bhupathi [Images] and partner Jonas Bjorkman were defeated in the final of the Chennai Open by Germany's [Images] Rainer Schuettler and Taipei's Yen Hshun Lu at the Nungambakam stadium.

Schuttler and Lu upset the top-seeded pair of Bhupathi and Bjorkman 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(7-4) on Sunday night.

In a tense encounter, Bhupathi and Bjorkman came back hard from a set down to level the scores with a win in the second set. It all boiled down to the decider third set, as Lu and Schuettler hung on to pack the killer punch in the tie-breaker, winning 7-4 to clinch the title.
