Harsh Mankad won the final leg of the British LTA $50,000 Satellite indoor tennis tournament in Sheffield on Friday.

The Indian Davis Cupper beat fourth seed Mark Hilton of Great Britain 6-4, 6-4 in the final of the fourth week's play to top the circuit.

Hilton broke the Indian sixth seed's serve early in the opening set, but Mankad fought back to take it 6-4.

He got a break in the sixth game of the second set and despite a spirited fightback from Hilton, held his nerve to break the Briton at 5-4 and win the set.

Mankad had overcome James Auckland of Great Britain 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 in the semi-finals.

Mankad had already won the doubles circuit with Eric Butorac of the United States, tallying 41 points.

With 55 circuit points, which will translate into 39 ATP points, the Indian will break into the top 300 in the world. He will become the highest-ranked Indian on the ATP list and thus push for selection to the Indian Davis Cup team that will take on China in New Delhi later this month.

Mankad, who had also reached the final of the first leg of the event, collected a career-high 124 ATP ranking points in the British indoor tournament.
