Jordan gave their new Formula One car its track debut on Monday, less than a month before the season starts in Australia on March 6.

Portuguese driver Tiago Monteiro, signed up last week, completed installation runs and systems checks in the Toyota-powered EJ15 at a foggy Silverstone circuit.

"We had to wait all morning before we could get started," said sporting director Trevor Carlin. "Once the weather cleared slightly, the afternoon went well and Tiago was able to complete almost 100 km, making good progress with checking the various systems on the car."

Monteiro, who did 35 laps and reported no major problems, said he felt comfortable in the car and looked forward to proper testing later in the week.

The Portuguese will complete the shakedown on Tuesday before Narain Karthikeyan [Images], India's first Formula One performer, drives at Silverstone on Wednesday.

Jordan were taken over by the Midland Group, run by Russian-born Canadian businessman Alex Shnaider, last month after struggling to survive last season.
