Karthikeyan secures Jordan F1 drive

February 01, 2005 11:38 IST
Last Updated: February 01, 2005 13:15 IST

Indian driver Narain Karthikeyan will drive for Jordan in the 2005 Formula One season after securing an offer from the team, his manager said on Tuesday.

"Narain has been offered a full drive by Jordan as their number one driver. He has accepted it," Sanjay Sharma said.

Sharma said Narain had given his confirmation to Jordan and would address a news conference inMumbai later on Tuesday.

Jordan have yet to announce their drivers for the 2005 season, which starts next month.

Narain, 28, was the first Indian to drive a Formula One car and has test driven for Jordan, Jaguar and Minardi in the last three years.

Minardi offered him a drive in 2003, but Narain missed out as he was unable to raise the huge sum required to secure the offer.

Narain currently drives in the World Series Championships.
