Bagan held goalless by JCT

April 30, 2005 21:03 IST

Former champions Mohun Bagan failed to get themselves out of the relegation zone as they were held to a goalless draw by JCT Mills in a 20th round match in the Ninth National Football League in Ludhiana on Saturday.

The draw took the Kolkata outfit's tally to 18 points. They are placed ninth in the 12-team league. Four teams will be relegated at the end of the season and they could be one of them.

Meanwhile, JCT Mills took their tally to 27 points. They are placed sixth in the standings.

Needing a win to survive in the league, Bagan played their hearts out in a fiercely contested encounter, which saw tempers flare up, but failed to break the deadlock.

During the last five minutes of the match, JCT pressed hard for the match-winner but each time they entered the danger area, they failed to capitalise on the chance.
