India thrashed Indonesia 6-0 to score a consolation victory in the AFC Under-17 women's football tournament in Namahe, South Korea, on Wednesday.

The victory was of no help to the Indians as they were already out of the race for a semi-final berth having lost their first two matches, to Thailand and Korea respectively.

At the Namhae Sports Park, one of the training sites during the 2002 World Cup, India took the lead in the 26th minute through striker Bala Devi Ngangom before medio Lalvarmoin Hmar doubled the lead in first half injury time.

Changing ends, India's third goal came 12 minutes after resumption through defender Ranjita Devi Thangjam. Two minutes later Bala scored her second to put the Indians in command.

It was Bala's fifth goal of the tournament after scoring a hat-trick in India's defeat against Thailand in their opening match.

India scored two more quick goals towards the end through midfielder Chanu Chingtham (75) and M Bembem Devi (81) to complete Indonesia's misery.

But the margin of defeat must have been some comfort for the Indonesians, who were thrashed 15-0 by Korea and 11-0 by Thailand in their earlier matches.

India, led by defender Wangkhem Thabal Devi, ended their campaign with one win and two defeats, going down 4-6 to Thailand and 0-7 to Korea.
