Button hearing adjourned to October 16

September 22, 2004 19:41 IST

Jenson Button's Formula One future looks likely to be decided by a meeting in Milan on October 16, the Williams team said on Wednesday.

Williams and Honda-powered BAR are in a tug-of-war for the highly-rated Briton's services for next season, with both lodging contracts for the 24-year-old, who says he wants to leave BAR for Williams.

Williams said Formula One's Contracts Recognition Board had met in Paris on Wednesday and decided to adjourn the hearing until October 16.

"The meeting on this date will be held in Milan and is anticipated to deliver a final decision," the BMW-powered team said in a statement.

The Formula One season ends in Brazil on October 24.
