Diju-Ismail lose in doubles semis

V Diju and Jaseel Ismail went down fighting to third seeds Woon Fui Lin and Mohd Fairuzizua

Mohd Tazari of Malaysia in the men's doubles semi-finals to bring down the curtains on India's challenge in the Asian Satellite badminton championships in Singapore on Saturday.

The Indian pair, which had defeated second seeds Kovit Phisetsarasai and Nitipong Saengsila of Thailand in the last eight, failed to make it to their maiden international final, going down 11-15, 14-17 in 55 minutes.

In the men's singles, none of the three Indians -- J B S Vidyadhar, Anup Sridhar and Arvind Bhat -- were successful in crossing the third round, while Trupti Murgunde and Saina Nehwal went down to higher rated opponents in the quarter-finals of the women's singles.

The mixed doubles pairs of Vidyadhar/Nehwal and Sanave Thomas/Shruti Kurian also bowed out in the last eight.
