Journalists face Gill's fury
May 07, 2004 22:44 IST
After mercurial striker Dhanraj Pillay, it was the turn of sports journalists to face the wrath of Indian Hockey Federation chief K P S Gill.
"Gill was near the training area, and when he saw us approaching the ground he asked: 'What these people are doing here.' He then asked us to leave the place," said one of the journalists present on the scene.
"He abused us and said 'get out of the stadium. It's my order'. When we said that he is not the authority to ask us to leave the place he threatened to use force," the journalist added.
India chief coach Rajinder Singh, who was also present, was very apologetic about Gill's behaviour, said another journalist.
The IHF chief is under flak following the decision to ignore Pillay, Baljit Singh Dhillon and Baljit Singh Saini from the list of probables for the Olympics.
