First goal was the vital one: Baros

June 28, 2004 03:00 IST

Czech Republic striker Milan Baros said the first goal had been the vital one in his team's 3-0 victory over Denmark in the Euro 2004 quarter-final on Sunday.

Jan Koller put the Czechs ahead soon after halftime before Baros struck twice in two minutes to set up a semi-final against Greece.

"The most important thing here was the first goal," Baros told reporters. "It was a great game for the Czechs. We are in the semi-final so I am happy with that.

"We knew before the game it was going to be difficult. We saw Denmark's game against Sweden and they played well."

Baros said the Czechs would not be under-estimating the Greeks.

"Greece beat France and played very well," he said. "They have a good defence and they are strong and it will be a different game. "We have to go game by game. I don't think we are favourites."
