PSB, Punjab Police in final

January 05, 2004 18:12 IST

Punjab and Sind Bank trounced Central Reserve Police Force 4-1 to set up a summit showdown with Punjab Police in the Shivaji hockey tournament, for the Dhyan Chand Cup, in Delhi on Monday.

The policemen overcame stiff resistance from Indian Oil to emerge 2-1 winners in the other semi-final.

Punjab and Sind Bank, who topped Pool A, never looked under any pressure against CRPF and raced to a 4-0 lead, after leading 1-0 at half-time.

Rajwinder Singh scored a brace while Kulwinder Singh and Sharanjeet Singh contributed with a goal each for the winners.

Tanveer scored the consolation goal for CRPF.

In the other match, which was keenly contested, Punjab Police thwarted a late charge by Indian Oil strikers.
