Israeli detective to probe Beckham affair

April 29, 2004 13:27 IST

In a new twist to the David Beckham-Rebecca Loos saga, a wealthy relative of Victoria 'Posh' Beckham has hired an Israeli detective to investigate the alleged affair between the England soccer captain and his former personal assistant.

Moshe Buller has been hired by a "wealthy female relative" of Victoria, local media reported in Jerusalem on Thursday.

Buller, who is still investigating the affair, claimed that the amorous mobile phone text messages attributed to the England captain were actually the work of somebody helping Loos.

"Their relationship does not go further than having a cup of coffee together," the detective was quoted as saying.

"David Beckham is not Don Juan or a gigolo that Rebecca Loos wants to make us believe he is," he said.

While Buller did not deny that Beckham may have had an affair with Loos, he said it was not as important as Loos  claimed it to be.

Buller said Victoria's relative hired him through a London law firm, El Mundo, for which he has reportedly worked  on several occasions.
