September 27, 2003 15:57 IST

European soccer's governing body UEFA has handed out fines totalling 80,000 Swiss francs (36,000 pounds) to the football associations of Macedonia, Bosnia and Serbia for racist offences.

All the offences took place at Euro 2004 qualifiers in August and September against Norway, England and Wales respectively.

UEFA on Friday fined the FA of Macedonia 25,000 francs after their fans racially abused several England players and burned an English flag on September 6.

The Bosnian FA was fined 30,000 francs for their fans chanting racist abuse during the match against Norway on September 6.

The FA of Serbia and Montenegro was also fined 25,000 francs for racist abuse of Welsh players in the Under-21 international and European qualifier against Wales on August 19 and 20.

UEFA also warned the Football Association of Wales that disciplinary action is being started against them for the improper conduct of their fans in the match against Italy in Milan on September 6.

UEFA also fined the Italian FA 60,000 Swiss francs for the serious lack of security that led to crowd trouble at the same match.
