Pillay, Dhillon among Azlan Shah probables

Mercurial forward Dhanraj Pillay, who was rested for the inaugural Afro-Asian Games, has been named in the 30-member probables list for the Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from January 8 to 18.

The probables, who will attend the camp in Delhi and Bangalore before the final selection, also include veteran striker Baljit Singh Dhillon and midfielder Baljit Singh Saini, who were also rested along with Pillay for the Hyderabad Games.

Among the 30 players selected are five goalkeepers, four full backs, 10 mid-fielders and 11 forwards.

The Delhi camp will be held from December 5 to 12.

Rajinder Singh and Baldev Singh have been retained as chief coach and coach respectively while Sampath Kumar will be the physical trainer.

A B Subbaiah will continue as the goalkeeping coach, the IHF said in a statement.

The probables:

Goalkeepers: Devesh Chauhan, Bharat Chhetri, Kamaldeep Singh, Adrian D'Souza, Shanmuga Sundaram.

Full backs: Dilip Tirkey, Harpal Singh, Kanwalpreet Singh, Dinesh Nayak.

Midfielders: Vikram Pillay, Ignace Tirkey, Viren Rasquinha, Bimal Lakra, Len Aiyappa, Prabodh Tirkey, Baljit Singh Saini, Bipin Fernandes, Jaswinder Singh, Prabhdeep Singh.

Forwards: Gagan Ajit Singh, Deepak Thakur, Prabhjot Singh, Sandeep Michael, Arjun Halappa, Baljit Singh Dhillon, Dhanraj Pillay, Deedar Singh, Tejbir SIngh, Rajpal Singh, Girish Pimpale.
