EME rally to hold Canadian club

November 07, 2003 23:00 IST

In the two matches featuring foreign teams, EME held Indian Hockey Club, Canada, to a 2-2 draw while Concordia HC of Croatia suffered their second successive defeat, losing 1-7 to Corps of Signals, Jalandhar, in the Indian Oil Surjit hockey tournament at the Burlton Park in Jalandhar on Friday.

The Canadian boys displayed good rhythm but lost their way in the second half.

They took the lead in the sixth minute through a field goal from captain Bindi Singh  and Sukhmpritpal Singh it the 24th minute.

But EME, who failed to convert three penalty-corners in the first-half, came back strongly on in the second session.

After reducing the margin in the early minutes of second-half, they found the equaliser in the 42nd minute through Jerome, who dodged past two defenders before slamming home.

Corps of Signals led the Croatian team 2-1 at half-time but the floodgates opened in the second half.
