Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday evening announced a Rs 10 lakh award and land at a prime location in Hyderabad for Sania Mirza, the first Indian girl to win the Wimbledon girls' doubles crown.

When she called on Naidu at his residence at Jubilee Hills, the chief minister also said that the state sports ministry would explore the possibility of arranging a foreign coach for her.

The Hyderabadi lass also called on Governor Surjit Singh Barnala at the Raj Bhavan. The governor said she had done the country proud and honoured her with a shawl.

Later, Sania cut a cake at the Taj Krishna Hotel in the presence of Sports Minister P Ramulu and other dignitaries.

Earlier in the day, Sania arrived to a rousing reception at the Begumpet airport.

Among those who received Sania were her father Imran Mirza, younger sister Anam, and officials from the Sports Authority of India, AP Tennis Association and the AP Olympics Association.
