Sania wins Nigerian Open

India's leading women's tennis player Sania Mirza won the $10,000 Nigerian Open at Benin city on Sunday.

She beat Franziska Etzel of Germany 6-3, 6-3 in the final.

For all her efforts, the Hyderabad girl won $1,600 and five WTA points.

She broke her opponent in the sixth game of the first set and took a comfortable 5-2 lead before allowing the German the next game and serving out the set.

The second set saw the first six games go with serve before the 16-year-old Indian took control of them match, taking the next three games.
